1956 Aston Martin DB2/4 MkII Supersonic
A one-off creation, this Ghia-bodied Aston Martin, chassis AM300/1/1132 was first displayed at the 1956 Turin Auto Salon. Though eight “Supersonic” models were constructed by Ghia, in recognition of the jet age, this is the only example built on an Aston Martin chassis. Its first registered owners, Gail Whitney Vanderbilt and her husband, Harry Schell, were photographed with the Aston Martin Supersonic for Life magazine. Later sold to automotive collector Robert Lee. It has recently undergone a thorough restoration, leading to the car’s second place award in the Postwar Touring class at Pebble Beach in 2011.
